Goods are often delivered on platforms called pallets. Once the goods have been dispatched, the truck can collect empty pallets and return these to the original source of the goods. These pallets can then be used for future deliveries.
In most cases, the pallets will not be returned to the original user. Instead they will usually receive pallets that are an equivalent size, type and quality.
